About a month ago, September, my doctor recommended me for an experimental study that would apply a cream with a genetically modified organism that would promote skin growth so my wound of 20 months would finally close. Unfortunately, his assistant was not trained right and not only was my foot rejected from the study (too healthy) but it became infected again. Soooooo, I lost another toe (again, the infection was in the bone) and a piece of my foot. It gets better. I returned to the funky shoe I have been wearing for 20 months and it turns out I was putting all my weight on the newly amputated bone, causing the bone to poke through my foot. So off with another small piece of the remaining bone and (finally) into a great "boot" to help my foot heal.

I always say how blessed I am and my greatest blessing is my wife, who has declared war on my foot and works daily to make sure it is properly dressed. I also often say that it is easy to talk the talk, but the challenge is to walk the walk. Sooooooo, I am once again recovering. I am over the anger about what happened, have forgiven the assistant (who felt so horrible he could not even look at me) and I have limited my activities to help the healing process.

I miss walking, water aerobics, and the sauna. I had to pass on seeing Santana and send my wonderful friends to cover other fun events I had booked. So I hope to see you at CB Hannegans once a month or come to my events I do for fundraising or book me for a party. As you may know, my friend Tim (Los Gatos Roasting Company) GAVE ME a guitar and I am now playing with other (much better) musicians at the events. Please come find me and suffer through some tunes. Let's eat some oysters and share our life stories. I miss you all and since my foot is still healing, YOU have to come to ME. OK?
