I know the fall equinox has past but I wanted to go back to the summer solstice for this. This photo was taken back in June and I have been saving this story since then. Each week I make the run to SF for oysters at more or less the same time. I notice the arc of the season by how far south I get during my return to Santa Cruz before first light begins to break. At this point in June, it is fully light before I drive south. I usually spend a little extra time on the docks just taking in this view. It is one of the small ways I intentionally stay connected to the natural world (like knowing the phase of the moon at any given moment). We should all have that extra time just to reconnect the world around us.
