I have had the honor of helping many couples celebrate their decision to formalize their relationship. There is something so right about starting your new life together with oysters and champagne. From the caterer’s perspective, there is the anticipation of “I do” and then a joyous outpouring of positive energy and celebration. Then the guests head to two bars, the alcohol bar and the oyster bar. The pro move is to come to the oyster bar first. The hosts seldom run out of adult beverages but the oysters vanish quickly. The guests have so much fun toasting the start of their friends’ new life together. I often hear how the oyster bar makes their celebration unique. I always take special care to be sure the honored couple have a plate of oysters when they finally get to sit to enjoy their wedding feast (even if after the guests all go home).
